First completed CAD draft of the ELEGOO Robot

I used Solidworks to create my first draft of my CAD of the ELEGOO robot. Solidworks is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) program. By using Solidworks, I was able to create each component of the robot kit and then assemble them together. Although my first draft looks similar to the actual robot, it is not the most accurate design. I was waiting to receive the robot and be able to examine each component in person and then modify my design so that it would be considered accurate. Unfortunately, it is not expected that we will receive the kits before we need to submit the CAD files. I very much struggled with creating the CAD without having the parts in front of me, as the images online are not the best, but I am going to have to make do for my final draft.

My first draft of the ELEGOO robot

Looking at the image above of my first draft, I can see a number of differences from my image to the actual robot. I have come to the conclusion that I will have to assemble it from scratch, as there is too many modifications to be made with each component and all of the mates that have been made will be deemed useless.

Each individual component will undergo modifications to ultimately produce a much more accurate assembly that I will be happy to submit. I also aim to learn how to use the Solidwork’s add-in “Photoview 360” to produce the best images as possible.
